Well I went ahead and rode out to the Giro ride on Sunday. My legs didn't really feel bad at all, but I knew they should. It was a fairly typical Sunday group and things weren't particularly fast. When we got to the end of the service road where we turn onto Chef Highway, a group slipped across while the rest of the group had to wait for traffic to clear before making the left turn. Well, in a clear violation of Giro Ride policy, the front group didn't wait. We were quite a ways down Chef Highway before I realized that they were even up there, maybe 30 or 40 seconds ahead. I guess I wasn't the only one who found this irritating, because soon there was a good paceline going at the front and we chased them down - not that they were trying particularly hard to stay away. It was the principle of the thing, y' know. Anyway, by the time I got home I was feeling pretty tired, and although I had been avoiding doing too much work, I was apparently not recovered from Saturday's sweat-fest. Afterward I went out and bought a pair of pants, which I do about once every two or three years, and then rolled over to Wal-Mart and got a memory card for my little camera. I was amazed. 128 MB for $20. That's like 1,000 small photos, 300 reasonably big ones.
I was surprised Monday morning to find my legs rather stiff. Delayed damage. Not a good sign. So I did an easy ride with the Monday group and we'll see how it goes tomorrow.
So The Howard sent out an e-mail that sounded like he was complaining about how the pace picked up last Saturday after Todd flatted in the road race. Hmmm. Maybe if one or two of his teammates had showed up? Must have been a really slow wheel change. I think our average speed for the whole race was something like 23 mph.
Got the LCCS standings and results websites done this evening. It took forever.
